Forget Hushpuppi, A Hacker Just Scammed People Huge Amount Of Dollars In 30 Minutes On Twitter
As news of the arrest and imminent prosecution of popular Instagram celebrity and alleged fraudster, Raymond Abbas better known as Hushpuppi, continues to make waves on the internet, a hacker has swept a whopping amount of Dollars in a space of 30 Minutes after he hacked the Twitter accounts of notable persons.
The incident took place in the late hours of Wednesday night after a hacker hacked into the official Twitter accounts of several notable persons and asked unsuspecting members of the public and Twitter users to send him or her bitcoins in return for receiving double the amount of bitcoins they sent.
The scammer targeted America's most prominent business men and politicians such as Barrack Obama, Joe Biden, Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk, Kanye West, Uber Technologies Inc., Apple Inc. and Michael Bloomberg, the founder and majority owner of Bloomberg News parent Bloomberg LP.
According to reports, the suspected hacker is a disgruntled ex employee of the social media giant, Twitter.
In the tweet which was sent over 3,330 times, the hacker posing as their victims promised that they were giving back to the society, as the tweet always starts with "I am giving back to my community due to COVID-19”.
The scam has gone a long way to show that Hushpuppi who was recently arrested by the Dubai police and extradited to the USA for prosecution is just a small fry in the grand scheme of things.
The attack on the prominent persons has caused other Twitter users to express fear over the security of their accounts, saying if accounts of people like Bill Gates could be hacked then everyone is at risk.
