Magu Was Never On Trial, Presidential Panel Invited Him For His Own Good - Presidency
Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, has said that suspended Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ibrahim Magu, was never on trial. According to Femi, Magu was only invited by the Presidential Panel to answer some unresolved questions. According to Femi, the invitation of Magu was for his own good.
Magu was arrested 10 days ago, and he has been appearing before a presidential panel investigating allegations of corruption. The allegations were levelled against him by the Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami. However, Adesina failed to clarify the legality of Magus' prolonged detention.
According to Adesina, the presidential panel only invited Magu so that they can hear his side of the story. He went on to reveal that long before Magu was arrested, the Panel had already been established. It only became necessary for Magu to be invited when the panel saw need to it. The panel seeker the approval of such invitation from the president, and the president approved it.
